Publisher's green wraps, with titles printed in black. In the Proof-Only dust-jacket. The jacket features some misprints and typographical or textual differences, most prominently the title and au…thor's name being printed across the spine in bold black tea-chest type, which was removed for the published edition at the request of the illustrator Richard Chopping. A clean, fresh copy, the over-height portion of the jacket having been trimmed flush to the book. Particularly scarce in jacket. Ian Fleming wrote one James Bond novel each winter in his Jamaican retreat 'Goldeneye' from 1953-1964. This title, The Man with the Golden Gun, was written during the 63/64 winter months and published posthumously by Cape as the last full-length Bond novel; the later 'Octopussy' being short stories. Basis for the 1974 movie starring Roger Moore as Bond and (Fleming's cousin) Christopher Lee as villain Francisco Scaramanga who, in the novel, is nicknamed "Pistols" Scaramanga.

Pagination is the same although the copyright page has a different setting (the 'Coronet Edition' prints the dedication in larger, bold type). The book covers appear to be identical.

Publisher's green cloth with gilt titles to spines and top edges green. Each volume contains the bookplates of Alexander Malcolm Scott (1864-1956) and Arnold Muirhead (1900-1988) to front endpapers, with the addition of the bookplate of Ernest Guy to the second volume. A loose illustrated postcard of Kilvert's church, St Michael's in Clyro, to the first volume. Light toning to edges, with a gentle tobacco scent, otherwise internally crisp and clean. A little light wear to cloth, with some minor toning to spines. Very good. Ex Libris New Zealand MP Alexander Malcolm Scott (1864-1956) and scholar and bookseller Arnold Muirhead (1900-1988).
