From the DW: "A relentlessly exciting Stephen King-esque tour-de-force of terror, The Regulators manuscript was found among Bachman's effects by his widow in 1994." "Richard Bachman, a master of hor…ror and suspense, was the author of the bestselling novels Rage, The Long Walk, Roadwork, The Running Man (which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger in a film version) and Thinner. After his death in 1985, his first four novels were collected in a multi-million selling anthology, The Bachman Books.".

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. New York, Dutton, 1996. First edition. First printing (with full number line including 1). Hardbound. Fine in a fine jacket. A clean tight copy, very fresh and bright. Publisher's price intact on front jacket flap ($24.95). Comes with archival-quality mylar ja…cket protector. Smoke-free. "Mirror novel" to Stephen King's "Desperation" and published simultaneously with it. All first state points present, i.e., 0996 date code on lower front jacket. flap. Jacket art by Mark Ryden. "Desperation" and The Regulators" represent parallel universes relative to one another, and most of the characters present in one novel's world also exist in the other novel's reality, albeit in different circumstances. The hardcover first editions of each novel, if set side by side, make a complete painting, and on the back of each cover is also a peek at the opposite's cover. King had previously "killed off" Bachman after the pseudonym was publicly exposed around the time of the 1984 release of the Bachman novel "Thinner." However, on the book's jacket and in a tongue-in-cheek introduction by the book's editor, it is alleged that this 1996 work was written by Bachman years earlier, but the manuscript had only recently been discovered by his widow in a trunk. KING/GW.

Add to basketCondition: Near Fine. Near Fine. First Edition Hard Cover. This novel was written by Richard Bachman which is a pseudonym for Stephen King. King wrote several other books under this name such as 'Thinner'. The novel is a First Edition and a First Printing with the number 0996 at the bottom of the inside front flap. It is in Near… Fine condition with two very small spots on the front board. The corners are square and the textblock is pristine. There is a very, very, light pencil line to the bottom edge and it is almost invisible. The dustjacket is also very near fine and only shows some tiny shelf wear to the top of the spine panel. It will probably dissappear when I place the book in an archival Brodart protector before shipment. The dustjacket is not price-clipped. This is a great copy of this First Edition. They say that 'Richard Bachman' is 'Stephen King Without a conscience'. 'The Regulators' is the story of a suburban neighborhood in the grip of surreal horror. The mayhem rages around a darkened house lit fitfully from within by a flickering television screen. Inside, things have not been normal for a long time. By the time night falls on Poplar Street, the surviving residents will find themselves in another world. It is a world where anything, no matter how terrible, is possible, and where the Regulators are on their way. How far they will go, and how they can be stopped are the desparate questions. The answers are absolutely terrifying.

Dust Jacket, May Have Minor Shelf Wear To Corners, Edges, and/or Spine. - For More Information On Condition. Please View All Images. Richard Bachman is really Stephen King, and The Regulators is a kind of companion no…vel to Desperation, which was published simultaneously. These books mark the return of the Stephen King of old; the Stephen King of The Stand and Pet Sematary, where good and evil were at war and blood and gore flowed through the pages.
