Each of the characters were drawn in detail and each is drawn in full body poses. Maurice Sendak signed the piece lower right "Maurice Sendak". The art has been newly matted, framed and glazed using all archival materials and UV glass, and has a wonderful presence on the wall. FRAMED TO: 17.5" X 15" The art by Sight is: 8.5" x 5.75" PROVENANCE: The Art is EX: Bonhams and was acquired during the period Bonhams had a sale of several original detailed preliminaries by Sendak. Rosie was based the story on a demonstrative little girl who used to sing and dance on the stoop of her building, whom Sendak observed while he was a little boy growing up in Brooklyn. She is depicted from her knees up, gazing directly at Pierre with her hands clenched around her signature boa. The artistâs signature is at the lower right of the image.
